WHO YOU GOING TO TRUST?

PSALM 146:3-6

PSALM 146:3-6 NKJ
3 Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.
5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6 Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,

OBSERVATION:

We have been on the subject of trusting the Lord in our Sunday services, and these verses give us further insight.

First, they tell us who not to put our trust in.

Don't put your trust in princes. Princes were typically people in that day who had a significant amount of power. They were the ones who could get things done. That's all well and good but don't put your trust there.

And don't put your trust in people, period. People are not here on earth forever. When they die, so do their plans and great schemes. We may see people as amazing and powerful, but compared to God, they are limited and temporary.

If you want to be happy, look to God as the One who can help you in life. If you want to be happy, place your expectations your hope in God.

And not some little passive, weak God. Put your trust in the God who made heaven and earth and the oceans. The God who made everything in heaven, earth, and the oceans. The God who keeps truth because He is truth.

And the God who keeps truth forever because He is a forever God.

If you are going to trust someone or something, trust God above all.

APPLICATION:

It is so easy to get caught up in this life that we forget how short and temporary everything actually is.

We forget how temporary the people we admire and look to are. We forget how limited people are in comparison with God.

A better, happier, and definitely more spiritual way of looking at things is to recognize the eternal immensity of God. And to place your trust in Him before you look to people.

Notice I did not say that's the easier way. It's always easier to trust what we can see, feel, and tangibly experience. But be prepared for the ups and downs of an inconsistent world.

We always have a choice as to who and what we will trust. Who you going to trust? I choose God, the Creator of heaven, earth, and me.

PRAYER:

Lord I trust You above anything or anybody. You are my God forever!
