WE ARE NOT ALONE

ACTS 12:11

ACTS 12:11 NKJ
11 And when Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people.”

This verse is the culmination of Peter's deliverance from prison.

He had been guarded by four squads of soldiers. But God sent an angel who walked Peter out past every squad. The situation was so surreal that Peter thought he was having a vision.

However, Peter found himself standing out in the city free from prison. God had sent an angel who was able to free Peter despite the best efforts of Herod.

It is quite obvious that the early church believed in angels. When Peter went to tell a group that was praying for his deliverance of his miraculous escape, they did not believe it was Peter. They thought it was Peter's angel.

We see angels at work throughout the bible. Often, they appear in their awesome angelic form that typically scares people. Sometimes they can appear as regular men. The writer of Hebrews encourages believers to be hospitable toward strangers because some have encountered angels, and they did not know it.

So, angels did not disappear simply because we have become more educated. They are spiritual beings and mighty powerful. Jesus said He could have called for thousands of angels to deliver Him from the cross. Thankfully, He did not, but the power to deliver was there.

APPLICATION:

I believe all of us will be surprised when we find out in heaven how much angels have helped us. I can look back on a couple of instances when I was spared from a bad accident that I attribute to angelic interventions, not luck.

A word of caution here. Nowhere in the scriptures are we encouraged to seek to see angels or contact them. Some people have made too much of angelic powers and visitations.

Anything God is doing will align with the scriptures. No visitor or message from an angel will override the bible. I believe they are with us and helping us. I do not have to see to believe, and I do not have to see to be grateful.

PRAYER:

Thank You, Father, for Your angels helping me and protecting me. I am glad that I am not alone.
