THIS WILL BE AMAZING
REVELATION 4:8-11
REVELATION 4:8-11 NKJV
8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:
"Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!"
9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
11 "You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created."
OBSERVATION:
The Lord does not tell us too much about heaven. Maybe if He had gone into great detail, we would lean toward checking out early.
Yet the fascination with heaven is immense. One of the largest crowds we ever had at the Ark for a guest speaker was the man who had died and had gone to heaven.
I met a man once who had died in a motorcycle accident and had gone to heaven. He seemed legit, and I peppered him with questions.
I have not heard of anyone who has gone into the throne room of God during their time in heaven. If you have not read his short chapter, you should invest a few minutes and get a glimpse of how amazing God's throne is.
The visual images John describes here are mind-boggling. John may not have known how to put what he saw in words.
He describes the One who sat on the throne as a jasper and sardius stone in appearance. And there was a rainbow around the throne in appearance like an emerald. I don't think I have a way to process that except that it's a good reminder that God was the originator of the rainbow.
In our verses for today, we see some pretty amazing looking creature all around the throne.
And these creatures are not quiet. They are continually saying holy, holy, holy. They are continually giving thanks and honor to the One who lives forever and ever.
Twenty-four elders, no names given, fall down and worship God and present their golden crowns before the throne. They also are saying something. They testify to the worthiness of the Lord to receive glory, honor, and power. They acknowledge that He created all things. And all things exist by God's will.
APPLICATION:
No, the throne room of God is not a quiet, casual place and it is good for us to take this into account.
It is too easy to refer to and treat God in a casual way. Too easy to forget He was the One who created us, and we owe Him our very existence.
We do not have to live in perpetual fear of God hurting us. However, it is good to live in a continual sense of reverence. Our God is amazing, and we are so blessed that He loves us.
