THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

This is one of the most loved passages in the Bible. Often read at funerals and quoted during times of difficulty. It's a short but powerful Psalm.

One of the most powerful aspects of this Psalm is how personal it is. The Lord is my Shepherd. He leads me. He restores my soul. I am not afraid because You are with me. And the personal ministry/service of the Lord continues.

But notice none of what our Shepherd is doing is negative. Even when we go through dark valleys, He is not enveloping us in more darkness or scaring us. He is a comfort to us. So much so that we are not in fear.

David who was a shepherd before He was a King gives us a marvelous revelation of what a good shepherd can mean to us personally.

APPLICATION

In January, I wake up and quote this Psalm and go to bed quoting this Psalm. It is a Psalm you can quote throughout your day. Take some time making this personal. The Lord is my Shepherd; He leads me.

This is more than a nice ancient poem. This is a picture of who our Lord is to us today!
