THE LAMP OF THE LORD

PROVERBS 20:27

PROVERBS 20:27 NKJ
27 The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord,
Searching all the inner depths of his heart.

OBSERVATION:

We are made up of three parts. Spirit, soul, and body.

The spirit is also called the heart or the inner man. This is the part of us that will exist forever.

The soul is the mind, will, emotions. We are very familiar with this part of our being.

And, of course, no one should have any problem locating his body.

So, when God enlightens us, where does His light shine? Not in our body. Not in our minds but in our spirits.

All of us have had what we would call a hunch. We had a knowing that we could not explain. My mother saw my father step on a bus in Atlanta, Georgia, and knew she was going to marry him. They had never met, but she knew in her spirit.

We get these hunches in the spiritual part of us of our being. When we are born again, the Holy Spirit comes to live in our spirit, and this is where He leads, teaches, and shows us things to come.

One of our biggest challenges is that we are so busy in our minds and with our bodies that we are not aware of our spirit.

People often receive answers and revelation in the shower or while shaving. It's not that hygiene is a particular favorite activity of the Holy Spirit. It's that we get quiet in our minds, and we were able to pick up what was in our hearts.

This is certainly a big topic, but it is worthwhile to explore what's available to us. I am convinced the Lord is speaking to us much more than we have realized. We've just been too occupied to hear clearly.

As you spend time reading your Bible and praying. Begin to put the distractions aside and get quiet before the Lord. Let Him cut the light on for you.

PRAYER:

Dear Father, thank You for communicating with me. I am Your sheep and I know Your voice. Teach me to be quiet and hear what You are saying.
