NOW TO HIM
JUDE 1:24-25
JUDE 1:24-25 NKJV
24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
25 To God our Savior,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever.
Amen.
OBSERVATION:
The book of Jude is short but packs a punch. Jude starts with an encouragement of mercy, peace, and love, then jumps straight into some pretty serious warnings.
False teachers had crept into the church spreading destructive doctrines. These teachers turned the grace of God into a freedom to live however they pleased. Even going to the point of denying the Lord Jesus Himself.
Jude then reminds the church of what happened in the past to the people who lived this way. This may not be a go-to book for most people today because of the severity of the warnings.
Even so, Jude ends on a positive note. He concludes his letter by pointing back to God and His ability.
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling. Jude puts the focus on God's ability to help and sustain believers despite the presence of wrong teaching.
God is the One who is able to help and to keep and to save. It is God alone who is our Savior, through Jesus. And God who alone is wise.
Jude shifts the attention back to God. God is the only One worthy of glory and majesty. God alone is the One who has dominion and power. God is the One who is strong now and will be strong forever.
APPLICATION:
I love the pivot Jude makes at the end of his letter.
Yes, there were some spiritual battles taking place, but God is the One that we look to.
I also appreciate how Jude warns of those in error but includes the ministry of the Holy Spirit, the love of God, and a concern for those who are away from the Lord.
This is the place where we want to end up. Yes, there may be negative things taking place all around us. But we are the people who look to God.
Now to Him who is greater, stronger, and can keep us strong. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
