MORE STRENGTH
If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.
Proverbs 24:10
Proverbs 24:10 If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.
Proverbs was written long before being politically correct, or the term cancel culture was ever conceived. If you tweeted this exact verse today, chances are the haters and trolls would rise up.
But the book of Proverbs is about wisdom, and godly wisdom is quite often very direct.
The word fainting does not mean what happens when someone sees blood. Fainting means to go slack, falter, drop out, cease, quit. The reason for fainting is not the adversity or trouble. Rather, it is the lack of strength. So if we stand firm, stay steady, keep fighting, and don't quit, then our strength is big.
We cannot live our entire lives waiting for the day that we will never face adversity. That is unrealistic and will leave you disillusioned and discouraged. But we can get stronger through Christ, who strengthens us.
APPLICATION
Growing stronger is one of our goals for all who attend The Ark. One of the keys to strength is the right fuel. What we eat affects our strength both naturally and spiritually.
God's word has the ability to strengthen us on the inside. Paul said God's word would build us up. (Acts 20:32) This is one reason we have made Bible 365 available. Reading and feeding on God's word is not simply doing our spiritual duty. It is making us stronger. And when we are stronger, we are able to face adversity without going slack and quitting. Life has stuff; we need more strength.
