IF THEY MISJUDGED JESUS
Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!" And some of them said, “Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?”
John 11:36-37
John 11:36-37 Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!" And some of them said, “Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?”
This chapter tells the story of Jesus raising His friend, Lazarus, from the dead.
It contains some great truths such as Jesus’ declaration that He is the resurrection and the life, the One who puts an end to death.
This chapter is the one where Jesus gives us insight into faith (vs. 40) where He states that if you would believe you would see. Believing without seeing.
This is also another place where people misjudged Jesus. Some thought He really loved Lazarus, which was correct. Some implied that if He loved Lazarus why couldn’t He have kept Him from dying.
Even after raising Lazarus from the dead, some believed, and some went and tattled on Him to the Pharisees.
APPLICATION
We really should not get too upset when we are judged incorrectly by people. If people missed it with Jesus whatever makes us think we’ll get by unscathed?
We need to do what the apostle Peter said that Jesus did. Don’t lash back at people or threaten them but commit ourselves to God, the only One who judges righteously. (1 Peter 2:23)
God is the only One who knows the whole story. So, we do our best to walk with a clear conscience before Him. As for people, some will judge us right and some wrong, but we don’t let that stop us. Thank God it didn’t stop Jesus!
