GOD CAN GO BIG AND SMALL

PSALMS 147:3-6

PSALMS 147:3-6 NKJ
3 He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.
4 He counts the number of the stars;
He calls them all by name.
5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
His understanding is infinite.
6 The Lord lifts up the humble;
He casts the wicked down to the ground.

 David wrote many of the Psalms. I am not sure if he wrote this one, but whoever did was inspired by God.

God goes small. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. The footnote of my bible says the literal word for wounds is sorrows. God can heal broken hearts and bind up the wounds and sorrows. This is God doing a work on the inside of individuals. Maybe a relationship went wrong, and someone is hurting. Our big God can help the one who is sorrowful. So many are brokenhearted for so many reasons. But whatever they are, our God heals and restores.

God goes big. He counts the number of the stars and calls them all by name. Whoa! When would you or I lose count with multiplied billions of stars? And how about coming up with names for all of them? That's hard to even comprehend. That's big, really, really big.

No wonder the psalmist declares great is our God and mighty in power. And His understanding is infinite.

If we view God from this perspective, it's easier to be humble. Humbled by His mighty power. Humbled by His help for the brokenhearted. And being humble is a good thing. The humble get lifted up. Yep, God does that also!

APPLICATION:

If you are dealing with a loss or a tragedy or something that just broke your heart, there is help. Our mighty God who can count the stars knows our name. He can heal you and make you strong to keep going. It's never hopeless with someone as powerful as Him. And if a star has a name and value. How much more do those who love Him and are part of His family?

We have a big God who can go small. And no one is too small for Him.

PRAYER:

Dear Father, thank You that You know and care. You see and heal. You understand much more than I do, and yet, You are willing to help. Thank You!
