FOR THE GLORY OF GOD
1 CORINTHIANS 10:23-24; 31-33
1 CORINTHIANS 10:23-24; 31-33 NKJ
23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. 24 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being.
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
OBSERVATION:
I have enjoyed doing my second year of everyday devotionals. One of the things that have stood out to me is the amazing ability of God's word to reveal truths in a new light.
It may also be that I am looking at Paul's messages to the churches in the light of our present culture.
We are a divided nation and, to a great extent, a divided Church, Big C body of Christ.
If we as The Church went radically biblical and took Paul's message to the Corinthians to heart, we could see some dramatic changes.
We've become so intent on highlighting, criticizing and online destroying our brothers and sisters in Christ over differences that we are walking way off God's path for His people.
We have the freedom to have our opinions, but do they edify, build up others? Is our primary objective to seek what's best for our fellow believers?
To do whatever we do to glorify God is a boundary that would serve us well. And instead of blasting those who differ, we seek to reach them for Christ.
Paul did not spend his time on earth criticizing those who did not believe what he believed. Instead, he looked for ways to connect with them. He lived to glorify God and see people saved.
May the Lord help us all set aside the differences and seek to reconcile those who are lost. May we reach people where they are, not where we think they should be.
As opposed to cursing the ever-growing darkness around us, may we seek God for better ways to be a light.
May our primary objective be that in whatever we do to do it for the glory of God.
APPLICATION:
Here is an application challenge. This week ask the Lord to put someone on your heart that you can pray for. But it must be someone who does not know the Lord as Saviour or someone you disagree with. We want to see Kingdom change in their lives for the glory of God!
If this person does not know Jesus as their Lord ask that someone come across their path that can have a voice in their life (see Matt 9:37-38). If they are a fellow believer pray that the eyes of their heart would be enlightened to God’s truth (see Colossians 1;9-11).
These prayers are not for our benefit or to prove a point but to see people helped for the glory of God!
