DON'T MAKE THIS LIST

PROVERBS 6:16-19

PROVERBS 6:16-19 NKJ
16 These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17 A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.

 OBSERVATION:

When we refer to God as a God of love, we are not wrong. God is love. When we say God is merciful and full of compassion, we are telling the truth. When we say God will love you just as you are, thankfully, we are right.

But, if we say God just accepts everything people do and does not care about our actions, we are not being accurate.

Solomon gives us a list of seven things that the Lord hates. These things are called an abomination to Him. So, it's good for us to know the list, so we don't make the list. But always keep in mind it's the behavior the Lord hates, not the person.

A proud look. Pride and God do not mix well. We must remember He made us, and without Him, we would not even exist so why should we be proud.

A lying tongue. Jesus said Satan is the father of lies. God is truth, and His truth sets free. Lies are of the evil one.

Hands that shed innocent blood. This would be involved in the taking of a life, not in a wartime setting. As I write this, the Ukraine is involved in protecting their country from the Russian army. They are not shedding innocent blood.

A heart that devises wicked plans. The thoughts of our heart are meant to be good and pleasing to the Lord. Constantly thinking about committing evil is not a good place to be.

Feet that are swift in running to evil. We should be swift in running away from evil. This implies one who is not putting up any kind of resistance to sin and wrongdoing.

A false witness who speaks lies. This is lying about another person. Some people lie to protect themselves, but this is lying to hurt others. Slander and gossip can fall into being a false witness.

One who sows discord among brethren. One who is causing problems among members of God's family. God does not like it when someone intentionally stirs things up.

Now for the good news. If you have made the list stop and ask God for His forgiveness. Then do your best to keep off this list. God will always love us. We want Him to also love how we live before Him.

PRAYER:

Thank You, Father, for forgiving me. I purpose to stay off this list.
