AN ACT OF FAITH

JOHN 9:35-38 NKJV

JOHN 9:35-38 NKJV

35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, "Do you believe in the Son of God?"

36 He answered and said, "Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?"

37 And Jesus said to him, "You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you."

38 Then he said, "Lord, I believe!" And he worshiped Him.

John spends an entire chapter revealing the story of the man who was born blind and was healed by Jesus.

It will not take long to read this entire story. It is a fascinating account of a man who experienced a miracle and what happens to him after his healing.

Jesus had once again healed on the Sabbath. This absolutely infuriated the Jewish religious leaders. The fact that these leaders were angry instead of rejoicing is absolutely mind-boggling.

Another bizarre thing in this account is the response of the parents. The blind man's parents were questioned by the Jewish leaders. They wanted to know if their son truly had been born blind. And if so, how was he now able to see?

The parents affirmed that this was their son and he had been born blind. But refused to acknowledge Jesus as the healer. They caved into the cultural pressure instead of rejoicing about the miracle that had taken place in their boy.

But the blind man was not waffling. He knew Jesus had healed him and he was not ashamed to say so. He made the leaders so mad they kicked him out of the synagogue.

Jesus finds him and asks if he believes in the Son of God. When the blind man discovered that the Son of God was Jesus, he believed and worshipped. His worship was an act of faith.

Really, there were two acts of faith in this account. The first was the refusing to back down under pressure to deny Jesus. The second was to worship the Lord.

APPLICATION:

The scriptures tell us we are to live by faith. So, we can learn from this former blind, now healed man.

Refusing to back away from our belief and love of Jesus, in spite of cultural pressure, is an act of faith.

Worshipping and honoring God is an act of faith. He is real, and He is worthy of our praise and worship. We don't have to feel anything special to worship. We simply choose to believe and worship.

God is a rewarder of those who seek Him. To those who will believe in Him and honor Him with their life and worship. We are His people. We live by faith.

PRAYER:

Lord I believe in Youi and I believe You are good. I chose to not be ashamed of You and to worship You``
