A STRONG PERSPECTIVE ON GOD'S WORD
PSALM 19:7-11
PSALM 19:7-11 NKJ
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
OBSERVATION:
This is a perspective on the value and power of God's word. Right in the middle of a Psalm that glorifies God for the beauty of His creation.
When we see phrases such as law of the Lord, testimony of the Lord, and statutes of the Lord, we can substitute in God's word. So, the word of God is perfect, converting the soul. The word of God is sure, making wise the simple. And so on.
This inspired Psalm gives us great insight into what God's word can do in our lives.
God's word is perfect, and it converts or restores the soul. In a day where so many are deeply concerned about mental health, there are answers. Of course, everyone will not buy into the concept that God's inspired word can have a major impact on the soul, the mind, will, and emotions. But the word of God becomes powerful in our lives when we believe it and make it personal. God's word restores my soul. God's word impacts my inner life and strengthens my mental health.
But wait, there's more. God's word is sure, solid, and can make the simple wise.
Don't trip up over the word simple. In comparison with God, we are all simple. But we do not have to say that way.
God's word is right and causes our heart to rejoice. Proverbs 12:25 says a good word makes the heart glad. And a glad heart is not a depressed or heavy heart.
God's word is pure and gives light to our spiritual eyes. There's a great amount of tainted information available today. God's word is not contaminated.
This passage ends with a declaration of the value of God's word and the reward it brings.
More valuable than gold. And more to be desired than gold. Never bittersweet to the soul. God's word lifts, never lowers.
And God's word warns us off of ways and paths that can harm us. And if we'll keep and practice His word, there is a reward. A great reward.
This is good stuff. Strong stuff!
PRAYER:
Dear Father, thank You for giving Your word to us. Because I believe it my life is changing for the better.
