A NEW DAY, A NEW AGE
REVELATION 21:1-5
REVELATION 21:1-5 NKJ
1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."
This is an amazing passage. There is going to be a new heaven and a new earth. Keeping in mind that Satan will not be in the picture. He is being tormented day and night.
If the old earth, our present location, is beautiful, imagine what the new one will be like. No sin, corruption, and death. It's all going to be prime real estate.
And God will be in complete control. And when He is in complete control, things will be different. Way different.
God will wipe away every tear. We will most likely have no awareness of the pain of the past.
There will be no death. No sorrow or crying. There will be no more pain. Because the old things will have passed away, and God will make all things new. I am not going to presume that I know everything involved with these events. But I sure like the sound of all things being made new. And I like the idea that sorrow, sadness, and pain will be a thing of the past. Out with the old, in with the new. It's going to be a great day, a great age, a great eternity.
APPLICATION:
One practical takeaway from this passage is we can see God's intent. He never intended for us to live with death, sorrow, crying, and pain. So we can identify the work of Satan and the fall of man when we see these things exist. Whenever I see human pain and suffering, I am not seeing God's handiwork. We saw His hand when Jesus was on the earth. Jesus brought life and gladness wherever He went. He did not cause pain, sorrow, and crying. Jesus would say to the people around Him, "if you have seen Me, you have seen the Father." (John 14:9)
So, when God makes all things new, and He is in control of all that takes place on the earth, it really will be a new day. And a very good day. Forever and ever.
PRAYER:
Thank you, Father. Your plan for Your people is really, really good. Thank You that I get to be a part of that plan.
